Doing It Well Podcast

Come to the Well. Draw wisdom. Go build...and do it well.

The Doing It Well Podcast is a weekly podcast for builders, people who are creating, learning, serving, leading, and using what has been placed in their hands to build something meaningful.

Founded on biblical principles, Doing It Well explores the dignity of work, the value of craftsmanship, the importance of apprenticeship, entrepreneurship, stewardship, community, and legacy.

This is not simply a podcast about success. It is a conversation about how we build, why we build, who benefits from what we build, and what we will leave for the generations that come after us.

About the Show

WELCOME TO THE WELL

Every builder needs:

  • A place to draw.

  • A place to learn.

  • A place to think.

  • A place to hear the experiences of people who have walked roads they have not yet walked.

That is what The Doing It Well Podcast is designed to be. Each week, we gather at the Well to draw from biblical wisdom, practical experience, honest conversations, and the stories of people who are actually doing the work.

Then we return to our homes, businesses, classrooms, workshops, families, and communities ready to build. Come to the Well. Draw wisdom. Go build...and do it well.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO DO IT WELL?

Doing it well is about more than producing an impressive result. It is about the character, discipline, responsibility, and purpose behind what we build.

We believe builders should seek to:

  • Build with wisdom.

  • Walk in integrity.

  • Pursue excellence.

  • Steward faithfully.

  • Learn before leading.

  • Serve people well.

  • Teach what they know.

  • Strengthen their communities.

  • Build something worth passing down.

Success is not measured only by money, titles, visibility, followers, or recognition.

We also ask:

  • Did you create value?

  • Did you become skilled?

  • Did you keep your word?

  • Did you serve people well?

  • Did you strengthen others?

  • Did you leave something useful behind?

  • Did you do it well?

WHO IS A BUILDER?

A job title does not define a Builder. Builders are everywhere.

  • They are entrepreneurs and employees.

  • Farmers and founders.

  • Teachers and tradespeople.

  • Parents and professionals.

  • Artists and artisans.

  • Business owners and beginners.

  • Community leaders and quiet servants.

A Builder is anyone willing to take what has been placed in their hands and cultivate it with purpose.

  • Builders create.

  • Builders repair.

  • Builders teach.

  • Builders serve.

  • Builders solve problems.

  • Builders pass knowledge forward.

  • Builders leave something behind.

THE CONVERSATIONS

On The Doing It Well Podcast, you will hear passionate solo conversations and honest interviews centered around questions that matter.

We talk about:

  • Why we build.

  • The dignity of work.

  • Why work was never the curse.

  • The value of apprenticeship.

  • The lost art of craftsmanship.

  • Learning before leading.

  • Starting small.

  • Building businesses that serve people.

  • Creating economic value within our communities.

  • Raising builders instead of consumers.

  • Passing skills and wisdom between generations.

  • Building institutions that last.

  • Leaving a legacy worth inheriting.

These are not conversations about becoming famous. They are conversations about becoming faithful builders.

BUILDING ACROSS THE DIASPORA

Doing It Well intentionally celebrates the people, businesses, skills, and ideas strengthening communities throughout the Black diaspora. We believe our communities need more than individual success. We need builders.

  • People who create businesses.

  • People who learn trades.

  • People who produce.

  • People who teach.

  • People who employ others.

  • People who preserve knowledge.

  • People who strengthen families.

  • People who build institutions.

  • People who are willing to support and invest in one another.

Whenever practical, we encourage intentional support of businesses, professionals, tradespeople, and creators within our communities—not simply for the sake of spending money, but because strong communities build economic relationships with one another. We want to see value circulate.

  • Knowledge transfer.

  • Skills preserved.

  • Businesses grow.

  • Opportunities multiply.

  • And generations become better equipped to build.

JOIN ME AT THE WELL

Some of the most valuable wisdom does not come from famous people. It comes from people who have spent years doing the work.

  • The person who learned a trade.

  • The entrepreneur still building.

  • The mother educating her children.

  • The craftsman who mastered a skill.

  • The business owner who started with very little.

  • The elder who has wisdom worth passing down.

  • The person who failed, learned, and kept going.

Those are the stories we want to hear. If you are building something meaningful or know someone whose story deserves to be told, we would love to hear from you.
