Discover the process of crafting artisan soap with dedication and purpose.

Shalom! And welcome to the well. In this heartfelt episode of the Doing It Well podcast, we dive into the world of artisan soap-making with our special guest, Tsuri'al, who shares the story behind her family's venture into creating natural products that not only cleanse but nurture the skin.

The Family Legacy

Tsuri'al begins by sharing the origin of the soap business, which was inspired by her mother's love for natural, handmade products. Her father initially ventured into soap-making as a gift for her mom, but it blossomed into a community-focused business that caters to the needs of many. "It wasn’t something that he was setting out to do to create for other people. It was something that he wanted to do for my mom," Tsuri'al explains, illustrating the beautiful intersection of family and entrepreneurship.

Why Soap?

When asked why they chose soap, Tsuri'al highlights the importance of creating something beneficial for others. "It’s making something that benefits other people," he says. The conversation unfolds into the challenges and joys of soap-making, revealing how Tsuri'al transitioned from being intimidated by the process to mastering it with her father’s guidance.

The Learning Curve

Navigating the intricacies of saponification, Tsuri'al reflects on the learning curve involved in creating consistent, high-quality soap. "It was great... it wasn’t as intimidating as I made it out to be. You just gotta follow the instructions," she shares, emphasizing the importance of mentorship and hands-on experience in mastering a craft.

Natural vs. Commercial Products

Tsuri'al draws a stark comparison between her natural soaps and commercial products filled with unknown chemicals. He explains, "There’s a process called saponification... a lot of times the commercially made items are separating out the glycerin, which you know, is going to strip your skin." This insight not only highlights the quality of handmade soaps but also educates listeners on the importance of choosing natural over synthetic products.

Intention Behind Creation

As our conversation continues, we delve deeper into what it means to create something well. Tsuri'al passionately states, "There’s like an element of intention and excellence... when you care about what you’re making, the people that you’re making it for, you’re gonna start to see other details." Her words remind us that crafting a quality product requires dedication and a sincere connection to its purpose.

As we wrap up our enlightening discussion, Tsuri'al's journey inspires us to reflect on the importance of intention in our endeavors, whether in business or in our daily lives.
